Description

Marcus Rainsford was a 19th-century British preacher who played a key role in the Moody/Sankey evangelistic campaigns in the United Kingdom. He wrote many profound meditations on the New Testament, including, “Our Lord Prays for His Own: Thoughts on John 17”

“THE Epistle to the Romans,” he writes, “is a gem of Divine truth in the midst of the New Testament, and the eighth chapter is the gem in the midst of the Epistle. It sets forth the position of every true believer in the Lord Jesus Christ, and there is not a single promise or privilege contained therein but what belongs equally to every believer. Of course some apprehend these things more than others, and some live by faith in them more than others. The greatest Christian is he who knows God best and most, and lives most upon Him; but the veriest babe in the family of God inherits all his Father’s fulness.

This chapter then sets forth some of the privileges bestowed by our Heavenly Father on all His children, for their supply, for their security, for their happiness, and their fruitfulness. Oh, may His Spirit write them in our hearts!”
